Ian Abrams

Ian Abrams is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and the Chartered Securities & Investment Institute. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Mr Abrams served for nine years as a disciplinary tribunal member of the UK Financial Reporting Council. The latter is responsible for regulating auditors, accountants and actuaries and sets the UK’s Corporate Governance Code. He also served for twenty years as a tribunal member of the UK HM Courts & Tribunals Service in the Finance, Tax and General Regulatory Chambers.

He began his career at Hoare Govett Stockbrokers, before joining Nomura International in 1988, where he was Managing Director of the European Debt Market Division. He moved to ABN AMRO in 1995, becoming Regional Executive Vice President and CEO of ABN AMRO Securities (UK) Ltd.

Mr Abrams subsequently joined Mizuho International plc, where he oversaw the Debt & Equity Markets, Derivatives and Treasury divisions.

Mr Abrams’ senior board governance roles include being a founding director of the UK Pension Protection Fund, Chairman of Orchard Funds plc, Non-Executive Chairman of Orchard Wealth Management Ltd, and senior independent director at LCH Clearnet Group.
