The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) alerts the financial services community and members of the public to a scam where an Authorised Firm, Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited has been impersonated.
The scammers have set up a fake website (https://www.quaysidereinsurance.com) that includes information about Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited, including the names of some of its Senior Management, and where they purport to be incorporated in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
On the fake website, the scammers have fraudulently used the following without permission:
· the name and a fake logo of Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited;
· Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited’s DIFC registration number; and
· the names of some of Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited’s Senior Management.
The scammers have also impersonated a member of Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited’s Senior Management and have corresponded with victims using a fake e-mail address ([email protected]).
The DFSA strongly advises you not to use the fake website or the fake e-mail address to communicate with Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited.
The DFSA informs you that Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited is authorised by the DFSA as a Class 1 Captive Insurer to provide the Financial Services of Carrying Out Contracts of Insurance and Effecting Contracts of Insurance only in respect of risks related to or arising out of the business or operations of its related group companies. Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited is not authorised by the DFSA to market insurance policies or conduct insurance intermediation activities, to conduct insurance management activities, or to write insurance policies directly with 3rd party policyholders. For this reason, Quayside Reinsurance Company Limited does not have a website and does not correspond directly with actual or prospective policyholders.
