DFSA cautions – DFSA’s Public Register cloned

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) cautions the financial services community and the public about recent scams in which the DFSA’s Public Register web page has been cloned.

The scammers falsely claim to be authorised and regulated by the DFSA by using a fraudulent website which replicates the DFSA’s Public Register.  The fraudulent website:

  • uses a web address which is different from the DFSA’s web address;
  • shows the names of companies falsely claiming to be authorised by the DFSA;
  •  looks almost identical to the legitimate Public Register website of the DFSA; and
  • includes links at the top and at the bottom of the fraudulent page which go to the legitimate Public Register of the DFSA.

The DFSA clarifies that:

  •  any web address claiming to be the DFSA’s Public Register with a domain name starting with anything other than “dfsa.ae” is not legitimate;
  • the legitimate Public Register website of the DFSA is available at www.dfsa.ae/public-register/firms; and
  • the companies mentioned in such fraudulent websites are not authorised by the DFSA.

The DFSA recommends that you access the DFSA’s Public Register from the DFSA’s website (www.dfsa.ae) instead of doing so through a link provided by a third party.  The DFSA also strongly advises that you do not correspond with the scammers.

The DFSA has a page on its website dedicated to alerts, which it has issued about scams. All alerts issued by the DFSA may be accessed by going to Alerts

The DFSA has also issued warnings and guidance about the common types of scams perpetrated on consumers.  For more information on these scams please go to How to avoid being scammed

The DFSA encourages consumers to refer to the list of regulated Firms and Authorised Individuals licensed by the DFSA that is available on the DFSA's Public Register

If you have any concerns about the authenticity of any correspondence or documents that purport to be issued by the DIFC Authority, DFSA or a DFSA regulated Firm, you should direct your concerns to the DIFC Authority on Tel: +971 4 362 2222 and to the DFSA via the DFSA Complaints function at Complaints
