DFSA logo used in a fraudulent scam

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) alerts the financial services community and the public to a fake letter falsely claiming to be from Crowe Finance Ltd and bearing the DFSA logo. Crowe Finance Ltd is not authorised by the DFSA.

This letter was sent to an individual, offering a loan approval purportedly from Crowe Finance Ltd. It states:

“We are pleased to inform you that your loan amount AED. 25000 has been approved for 48 months and your PERSONAL LOAN File Number is 1000983315525799936.

As you are aware, we will present the installment cheque on the 10th of every Month. Please ensure that your bank account is adequately funded. This will avoid levy of additional charges for non-receipt of payment.

Your Installment amount is AED. 596/- for 48 months.”

The letter includes contact details, instructing recipients to reach out to a “customer service representative” to assist.

In an attempt to make the scam seem authentic, the scammer fraudulently used the DFSA’s logo without permission.

The DFSA informs you that:

  • the letter is fraudulent and was not issued by the DFSA; and
  • the DFSA does not permit firms to use its logo on any communication without express permission.

The DFSA strongly advises you not to respond to any communications regarding this scam, and under no circumstances should you send or give any money to any party connected to this scam.
