SNB Capital (DIFC) Limited Impersonated in Scam

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) alerts the financial services community and members of the public to a scam involving the impersonation of SNB Capital (DIFC) Limited (the Real Firm), a DFSA Authorised Firm based in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The Real Firm has no involvement in the scam.

The scammers have created a fraudulent website (https://snb-capital.net) that closely mimics the Real Firm’s website by:

  • using a fake name – being, “SNB Capital Limited” – as well as fraudulently using the Real Firm’s actual name – being, “SNB Capital (DIFC) Limited”;
  •  using the Real Firm’s name on the ‘About US’ page; and
  • referring to the Real Firm’s actual DIFC office address and DFSA reference number.

The scammers contact potential investors by phone and claim to represent the Real Firm.  In an attempt to appear legitimate, the scammers send potential investors a link to the Real Firm’s legitimate DFSA Registration page.

The DFSA informs you that:

  • the only website affiliated with the Real Firm is the website https://www.alahlicapital.com.  The Real Firm has no connection with the fake website (i.e. https://snb-capital.net);
  • the fake website contains a telephone number and an email address which are not the Real Firm’s contact details;
  • the Real Firm does not have any persons making marketing phone calls on its behalf; and
  • the Real Firm does not have a trading platform business operating in the DIFC.

The DFSA strongly advises you not to respond to any communications regarding this scam, and under no circumstances should you send or give any money to any party connected to the scam.

The DFSA has a page on its website dedicated to alerts which is has issued about scams. All alerts issued by the DFSA may be accessed by going to: ALERTS
